Why going out to celebrate Pakistan Day is bad

By Fatima Shaheen Niazi

Every year, there is a military parade on the 23rd of March. Preparations for the celebration is made days in advance and people from all walks of life step out of their houses to witness jets being flown in the air.

Many individuals also welcome the day by lighting up fireworks in the wee hours of the night. Unfortunately, this year round, there was radio silence.
There were no parties, no parades, no fireworks. Instead, people were locked up in their homes in fear of COVID-19.

Many individuals also felt they were deprived of displaying their love for the nation. Though we understand the need to celebrate the day that decided on the creation of Pakistan, we also feel the best gift you can give to the country as a responsible citizen is the gift of self-isolation.

Believe it or not, being locked up at home may be excruciating, but it is a necessary measure needed to put an end to a contagious epidemic.

Therefore, if you feel like you did a disservice to your nation by not celebrating, think again! The biggest act of patriotism right now is staying in and making sure loved ones remained safe. After all, only a healthy nation can be a prosperous nation.

Still not convinced? Well, that’s what we are here for! We have some ideas up our sleeves that can help you celebrate Pakistan Day in the comfort of your homes.

Here’s what you can do:

Play patriotic songs: Want to celebrate your love for the nation? Wear something green and play patriotic songs such as ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’, ‘Hai Jawan’ etc. We personally dedicate the song ‘Hai Jazba Junoon tou himmat na haar’ to our readers. Stay strong during this epidemic and don’t lose hope!

Watch patriotic movies: Feel like watching the army defeat enemy forces? Watch patriotic moves such as ‘Waar’, ‘Yalghaar’, and ‘Jinnah’.

Read some history: Yes, this might be an advice considered boring by many. However, the fact is, reading up on the history of Pakistan and the importance of Pakistan Day will just pump you up and increase the love you have for the nation.

Educate your children on the Partition: This one is a little tricky since children get bored easily. But what better way to make sure history is not forgotten but by enlightening the young ones? Tell them all about how long it took to build Pakistan and why they must do their part in succeeding for the nation.

Form plans on how you can make the nation better: Can’t soothe your patriotic heart by staying indoors? Why not make plans that can benefit the nation in the long run? There are thousands of things you can do, all you need is motivation.

Make videos on why you love Pakistan and upload it on your social media: Want to publicly declare your love for the country? Why not make a video for your social media platforms to enlighten your followers? This will give you the opportunity to express your thoughts and point out ways in which people can help their nation better.

Create a patriotic song of your own: Are you a musician? Create a tune or a song that shows just how patriotic you are! The benefit: you can pass on this song to your future generations.
